Position Overview:
Oversees Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for the Amcor Rigid Plastics North America ("ARPNA") Beverage business unit. Is a key resource and provides functional direction to Plant Managers and Safety Managers regarding their respective health and safety roles and responsibilities. In pursuit of a "zero accident" culture, works in collaboration with and supports the Plant Management teams in developing and implementing strategies to improve ARPNA Beverage safety performance, as well as compliance with Amcor Limited standards and other regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
•Design and implement EHS policies, processes, and programs for ARPNA Beverage, and ensure thorough cascading in cooperation with Operations Management and ARPNA Director EHS
•Coordinate and assist Safety Managers with implementation of corporate Amcor programs including safety standards, reporting, policies, auditing, and property insurance risk recommendations
•Coach Operations Management, including plant Safety Managers, on safety initiatives implementation and execution; collaborates with appropriate plant personnel to resolve safety and/or environmental issues
•Review safety statistics to identify safety concerns and trends, and work with respective cross-functional, Engineering, and plant teams to make improvements and implement best practices; provide counsel and leadership to address issues and concerns
•Participate in and provide guidance and support for EHS internal and external audits, ensure the preparation of action plans, and validate completion within the time frame established
•Promote safety awareness through internal communications and programs, including hosting monthly Operations Safety Chats with all plants
•Update, communicate, and implement safety information, work instructions, processes, documents and training programs; ensure this information is readily available as appropriate for the topic
•Monitor Safety Computer Based Training (CBT) system; assist in developing and delivering non-CBT training as appropriate; proactively monitor annual OSHA compliance training for all plants
•Review the incident investigation process with the appropriate Plant management team to ensure conformance with established Amcor reporting requirements
•Assemble and publish the monthly safety report and develop other reports and safety presentations
•Monitor plants' contractor safety programs on a routine basis
•Ensure the performance of risk assessments and job safety analysis
•Organize and host Quarterly ARPNA Safety Steering Team meetings
•Ensure equipment safety retrofits and other required safety initiatives are applied when determined appropriate; work with Procurement to ensure OEM machine and equipment safety alerts are communicated to the plants
•Facilitate EHS consulting services, such as workers' compensation administrator
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor's Degree in safety management, safety engineering, or related field
•Minimum 8 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry; multi-site EH&S management experience preferred
•Required experience includes working with external regulatory agencies, ergonomic analysis and application, behavior safety training and auditing
•Knowledgeable of OSHA and ANSI standards; CSP, CIH or CSM certification preferred
•Change management skills
•Must be able to communicate and interface with all levels of the organization from senior leadership to hourly co-workers
•Demonstrated working knowledge/application of Microsoft Office
•Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
